Pipe Cleaner Vase with Button Flowers: Kids Crafts Project #24 of 300 Crafts for Kids

KIDS CRAFTS PROJECT #24: Pipe Cleaner Vase with Button Flowers
Crafts for all abilities!
for Ages 4 Years and Up
A Perfect Teacher's Gift for Valentine's Day Gift

Supplies Needed:
  • 1 Styrofoam Cone
  • 1 Inch Hearts & Flowers Buttons
  • Long Pipe Cleaners in white, pink, and purple shades
Time Needed: 30 minutes

What To Do:
  • For the Vase

Take a pipe cleaner and starting at the top of the vase (narrow end) poke 1/2 inch into the Styrofoam and wrap the rest around the vase until you have 1/2 inch left. Bend that part and poke it into the Styrofoam. Continue until the entire vase is covered with pipe cleaners.
  1. HINT: On the wider part of the vase I used several of the same color pipe cleaners in a row
Poking the first pipe cleaner into the Styrofoam
    Starting the 2nd pipe cleaner
Showing how to poke the end of pipe cleaner into the Styrofoam
Almost completed vase with a flower I decided not to use for this project.
    For the Button Flowers:
Thread the tip of a pipe cleaner through the button holes and twist to keep the button on.
    The button assortment I had.
Buttons threaded with Pipe Cleaners (picture from walking love bug project)
Wrap long end of pipe cleaner around your finger to make it squiggly and poke into top of vase. Cut end of pipe cleaner if too long.

Repeat with flower and heart buttons until you have 6-8 completed and put into the vase.

Make 2-3 heart shapes with pipe cleaners to add a little more fun to the vase.

Adult should use scissors to cut the ends of the pipe cleaners so that they don't fall over in the vase.

    ENJOY! You're done!

Don't Forget to Take a photo and share it with us! You are automatically entered into our WEEKLY GIVEAWAY on our Facebook Page when you post a photo of your finished project and "Like" Us ! Giveaway is randomly selected.

Why We Love Crafts for Kids: Art develops creative thinking, provides means of communication and self expression, increases self understanding, strengthens self concepts and confidence, serves as an emotional release, provides decision-making opportunities, develops appreciation for the individuality of others, aids physical coordination, develops work habits and a sense of responsibility, heightens aesthetic awareness and sensitivity, and generates joy!

For Children with Special Needs: Assist your child as much as needed - but allow it to be his project.  Art projects are great for fine motor exercise, and using creativity.
If you child has a limited attention span, have all supplies ready before having him begin the project.

For some sensory fun put your buttons in a deep bin and let your child handle them, pick them up, scoop them, and touch them. They feel smooth, have bright colors, and make noise when scooped and moved around.

If your child's small motor skills won't allow him to thread the buttons give him assistance.

This opportunity for hands-on learning with no wrong choices is ideal to foster self esteem as well. Let him choose what color pipe cleaners to use, which buttons to use, and where to put them in the vase!

Let him be proud of his very own creation! Display it in a prominent place in your home or have him give it to a teacher or loved one!

For Older Children: An older child can further enjoy this project by adding a few tiny beads to the pipe cleaners before putting them on the vase for a special touch! Add a little note card for your teacher, put one of the pipe cleaners through it, and poke into the vase with the other flowers!

Associated Educational Activities:
And now a word from SeeryusMama "READ!" And now a few more words from her "A special book with the hands down cutest pictures is 'Ten in the Den' by John Butler.  My toddler just adores all of the animals and yes, they are that cute!  'Ten in the Den' is a great counting book with repetition that hooks those little ears.  Create a construction paper chain and countdown the days to Valentine’s Day!"

Count & Sort Buttons! As soon as I poured the buttons onto the floor my preschoolers couldn't wait to touch them and start sorting them. All those brightly colored little nuggets got their attention immediately. We made a game of it. Mommy (me) counted to ten while they collected as many "red" or "big" or "tiny" buttons as they could. (If you're doing this with more than one child I suggest starting with 2 piles of buttons - lesson learned!) Then, have each child count how many of the correct buttons he grabbed!

30 seconds from bud to bloom! Seeing a flower grow in a time lapse video is an amazing event for a child! Absolutely fascinating! LessonPathways.com has a link to this video and plenty of others if your child enjoys watching the bloom!

PLEASE POST IN COMMENTS your opinion of this kids craft, if you enjoyed it, other ideas that may be similar.

Plasma Car: The Revolutionary Ride On!

Plasma Car is a multi award winning revolutionary ride-on! No batteries; no power-cells; no liquid fuel are required. It's so easy to operate; all it needs is a driver and a smooth; flat surface.

Plasma Car NOW ON SALE:  WAS $79.99 Now Only $59.99

Looking for a children's toy that will delight, fascinate, and invigorate for years to come? PlaSmart's come to the rescue with the perfect toy - THE PLASMA CAR!

The revolutionary new PlasmaCar is built to last from high quality plastics. It's rugged and durable, deceptively easy to operate, and has no pedals, no gears, and no batteries required!

It's like magic, but you don't need to be a magician to get it to work. The Plasma Car is a mechanical marvel that makes use of that most inexhaustible of energy sources, kid-power, by harnessing the natural forces of inertia, centrifugal force, gravity, and friction.

It's so easy to operate; all it needs is a driver and a smooth, flat surface.

The PlasmaCar is adult-friendly, too. For starters, it doesn't require an expensive power source that needs constant replacement. No batteries, no power-cells, no liquid fuel-just the occasional cookie or two. It's quiet too-the only sound you'll hear is the sound of its wheels. It provides kids with plenty of exercise, more so than most toys. And the
Plasma Car is engineered to be absolutely safe when used appropriately. It's been extensively tested, and meets or exceeds all US and International safety standards.

The Plasma Car can handle a load of 220 lbs on a smooth, flat surface, and 120 lbs on a rough, flat surface.

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE ON HARDWOOD FLOORS OR LAMINATE FLOORING

For kids, the PlasmaCar is pure energy and pure fun. For parents, it's safe, inexpensive, and quiet.

    Here's how it works:
To propel the PlasmaCar, you rotate the steering wheel continuously from left to right. It also works in reverse. To zoom backwards, just switch the set of four front wheels around so that the larger ones are closest to the front of the car. To stop your PlasmaCar, just cease rotating the steering wheel and, when the car slows, put your feet on the ground to bring it to a full stop-easy as pie. Think of it as a Segway for kids. The PlasmaCar can go an exhilarating but kid-safe 2.8 meters per second; that's over 10 km/h. Kids feel the need for speed-and this toy will give them exactly what they need!

    Size Assembled: 31" x 14" x 16"

For Ages: 3 years and up

WAS $79.99  Plasma Car NOW ON SALE:  $59.99

PLASMA CAR is also available in RED or PINK
