Crafty Blogger: Marbling Art Rainy Day Preschool Craft

I love summertime---the long, warm days and playing outside in the sun! So much to do, but what about the occasional rainy day with stir-crazy kids? Gather up a few supplies and have them create bright and cheery Marbling Art!

Supplies:
Time Needed:
20 minutes plus drying time.

Prep:
Spread a thin layer of shaving cream in the pan.

Instructions:
Have children dip paint brushes in paint and splatter it into the layer of shaving cream. We chose to use the rainbow colors to try to offset the dreary rainy day. Place card stock on top of the shaving cream and press down. Put the card stock on a surface and squeegee the excess shaving cream off revealing your marble art!

The fun part! Splattering!

Press down to "paint" the card stock

Squeegee Time!

Voila! Beautiful!

My children loved splattering the paint colors and mixing them to make new colors! It was an excellent opportunity to introduce them to color combining---the concept of blue and red making purple and red and yellow making orange! In addition to this, my kids really liked the feeling of swirling the shaving cream with their hands.

I love crafting, scrapbooking, drawing, jewelry making, soap making and cake decorating. and now I have three silly little helpers to assist in these projects! My oldest is a bubbly, artistic girl, the middle child is a sweet little boy who draws rocket ships and race cars and the youngest divides her time between actually coloring and attempting to eat the crayons!  I share my fun crafting adventures on the Sippy Cup Mom blog in my "Make It Pretty Wednesdays" segment. In addition to this, we write about life with kids, travel, reviews, giveaways and much more!
