Earth Day Nature's Art Project
Toddler & Preschool Crafts for all abilities!
These would look beautiful in shadow boxes!
Wish I'd thought of it earlier!
Wish I'd thought of it earlier!
Supplies Needed
- Collection of Nature's Art from the Neighborhood
- White Construction Paper
- Double Sided Tape and/or White Glue
- Optional: Shadow Box
Time Needed:
- Time to Collect "nature's art" plus 15 Minutes for the project
- Take your child on an exploring trip around your neighborhood on foot. And a few stuffed animal friends came along for the ride too!

- Bring a box, bag, or container to hold what you collect. We found out that we have people in our neighborhood who litter water & soda bottles. GROSS! Next time we promised to take a big bag with us and collect the garbage we find!

We used our Superhero Lunch Pails to collect our treasures
- Encourage your child to look at the ground while you walk and to pick up anything "made by nature" with pretty colors such as grass, flowers, buds, pretty rocks, interesting twigs and so on. My initial idea was to make a rainbow using objects from nature but my kids were clearly fixated on yellow and brown so I went with it!
Some things were beautiful like this tree, but since we couldn't take it with us. we settled for a photo!
Hmm...what was eating this leaf?
Does this make her an official tree hugger LOL?Actually, she was being Wonder Woman at the time and wanted to lift it up!
Finally something green!
Yeah! YELLOW!
Recycled rubber!
We walked to the park and there we talked about how the playground has recycled tire rubber on the ground to make it soft. We also talked about what littering means and how we can keep our playground looking nice. My kids LOVED this project, especially finding "treasures" along the way. They had so many fun questions and observations!
- Once you're back home again you can start the art part of the project!
- Glue or use double sided tape to attach each item to the white construction paper.
- Let dry completely.
- ENJOY! You're done! Show it off by hanging your masterpiece on the wall, or stand it up on a shelf!

My daughter's masterpiece!
My son's masterpiece.
Don't Forget to Take a photo and share it with us! You are automatically entered into our WEEKLY GIVEAWAY on our Facebook Page when you post a photo of your finished project and "Like" Us ! Giveaway is randomly selected.
