Bathtub Art - Painting in the Tub! Crafts for Kids Project #66

Bathtub Art
Crafts for all abilities!
for Ages 4 Years and Up
Recent Bath Tub Watercolor Art!

Supplies Needed:
  • Bathtub with Child Bathing (you must provide LOL!)
  • Shaving Cream
  • Egg Carton
  • Paint Brushes
  • Food Coloring
  • Watercolor Paint Set
  • 3 Spray Bottles
  • Paper Towels
  • OPTIONAL: washcloths, plastic cups, tile brushes, sponges, superheroes
Time Needed:
  • As Long As They Want!
CAUTION: These did NOT stain the white tiles on my bath walls but I cannot guarantee the same result on all surfaces. Test a small area and/or clean frequently if you are concerned. Do NOT let the paints stay there for any extended period of time. Using shower spray should be enough to clear it away. If you need something tougher use tile cleaner and a sponge. KEEP OUT OF YOUR CHILDREN'S EYES AND, OF COURSE, MOUTH!
    What To Do:
    • Shaving Cream Paint:
Thank You to Meet the Dubiens where I discovered that you could use colored shaving cream in the tub!
    1. For each paint color mix shaving cream and a few drops of food coloring together.
    2. Use an empty egg carton to add the shaving cream paint to. It holds quite a few and is easy for you to hold the top part of the egg carton while your child paints the shower walls.
    3. Add a paint brush or two and you're ready to go!
    4. Finger painting with this is great fun too!
      CAUTION: Keep out of eyes!
    • Watercolor Painting:
    1. Take a few paper towels and dip the edges into the bath water.
    2. Stick them to the bath wall(s) at your child's reach.
    3. Give them the watercolor paint and some paint brushes.
HINT: They can even paint on themselves!
    4. Let dry completely and hang the next day!

    • Spray Bottle Painting:
    1. Fill spray water bottle with water and a few drops of food coloring.
    2. Shake to mix well.
    3. Put water bottle spray cap on securely.
    4. Repeat steps 1 thru 3 for each color.
    5. Dip edges of Paper Towel into water and stick to bath wall(s).
    6. Spray onto paper towels for beautiful art.
    7. Let dry completely and hang the next day!
We also sprayed the walls and cleaned them off using sponges, washcloths and tile brushes! Pouring cups of water over the paints once on the wall was a big hit. We also gave our superheroes a thorough washing and scrubbing with their special "soaps".
    8. Don't Forget to Take a photo and share it with us! You are automatically entered into our WEEKLY GIVEAWAY on our Facebook Page when you post a photo of your finished project and "Like" Us ! Giveaway is randomly selected.
